2026 London Marathon

We are incredibly proud of our London Marathon runner Tiny, aka Lewis, who completed the race on Sunday, 26th April 2026 while raising an amazing £3,299!!! This achievement reflects not only his fantastic fundraising efforts, but also months of dedicated training in unpredictable Scottish weather, determination and commitment.

Taking on 26.2 miles in hot conditions is no small feat, and his resilience and positivity throughout have been truly inspirational. We are hugely grateful for everything Lewis has done to support our work, and his efforts will make a real difference to the families and children we work with.

His fundraising efforts have been outstanding, with a lot of thought and creativity along the way!

Kiltwalk 2026

We would like to extend a huge thank you to everyone who took part in the Glasgow Kiltwalk.  Thorntons Solicitors showed an incredible level of commitment by completing the Big Stroll, which is just over 14 miles, and raising an impressive £1,850 for HSGNNL. Their fundraising efforts and determination mean so much and will have a real impact on the families and children we support.

We would also like to give a special mention to one of our amazing volunteers, Leah and her family, who completed the Wee Wander and raised a fantastic £200. We are incredibly grateful to all involved for their time, energy and generosity.

The emotional, physical and psychological cost for children experiencing trauma, loss, hardship and neglect is immense and can last a life-time.

The need for our work is acute and growing.  In Scotland:

  • 1 in 4 children are living in poverty.
  • Just under 15,000 children are under the care of the state or ‘looked after’.
  • Referrals to children & young peoples mental health support are up more than 22% in the last 5 years to over 33,000 per year.
  • There were almost 60,000 recorded incidents of domestic abuse last year (and it’s widely accepted many incidents go unreported). A significant number of incidents are experienced by children.

You can help us change a child’s life

We believe that the best possible start in life for a child begins at home with their family. A nurturing, loving, stable family and home environment strongly determines a child’s future life chances. Children whose parents are struggling to cope can miss out on the love, routine and support that are vital for their future.

Each year we want to connect with more Glasgow & Lanarkshire families, but already our service is in demand and some families have to wait. But childhood can’t wait.

When a family faces mental or physical ill health, insecure housing, insufficient income, isolation and loneliness, addiction, relationship breakdown, loss, trauma or abuse, everyone in the household can suffer. Children most certainly will be affected, whether we can immediately see it or not. We want to be there for them – to help them and their whole family until they can cope again. We want to reach each child in their vital early years so they can have the best possible start in life. Often we can be the last chance they have.

Home-Start depends heavily on donations from people like you to fund our work with parents and children. Everyone needs help at some time in their life. Please help us to make a difference to a child’s life today.
